Inspired by the archetypal imagery of the animal world, Cavallo — the Horse — embodies Gio Ponti’s playful yet refined approach to decorative objects. Crafted in stainless steel, the sculpture takes the form of a minimalist origami horse, highlighting the master architect and designer’s singular ability to turn simple materials into enduring art. With just a few precise folds, a flat sheet of metal becomes an evocative sculpture, capturing both motion and memory. Gio Ponti’s intuitive use of geometry and gesture gives this object a narrative charm, perfect for animating a table, sideboard, or mantle with understated elegance. Cavallo is available in two sizes, with this one being the bigger version of the two.

Metal
In order to maintain the aesthetic characteristics of these finishes over time and avoid rust, regular, methodical and meticulous cleaning is necessary. For everyday maintenance, dust with a soft dry cloth. For greasy oily marks (fingerprints) we advise cleaning the surfaces with normal liquid detergents for glass. Products containing solvents and/or alcohol and hard fibre cloths (linen and synthetics) should be avoided, as they could ruin and/or scratch surfaces. Require monthly maintenance with specific metal cleaning/polishing products.

CAVALLO
Delicately sculpted with origami-like precision, Cavallo by Gio Ponti demonstrates the expressive power of a single fold that is transformed into a meaningful form. Ponti often drew inspiration from the animal kingdom and was fascinated with the uniqueness of nature and the ability of each animal to affect the space around it.
