FOR THOSE WHO MAY BE DISCOVERING YOUR WORK FOR THE FIRST TIME, COULD YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR JOURNEY AS AN ACTRESS?
I’m an actress. And I’ve been an actress for more than twenty years. I’ve worked in all kinds of film and television productions. And I truly love acting. I studied law before I go tinto acting, law is excellent training for logical thinking.
BEFORE PURSUING ACTING FULL-TIME, YOU STUDIED LAW AND ECONOMICS. HOW HAVE THOSE EXPERIENCES SHAPED THE PERSON AND ARTIST YOU ARE TODAY?
If you go deeply enough into this field, the answer you may arrive at may overturn the answer given by those before you. In acting it’s the same: there is no single right answer.
WAS THERE A DEFINING MOMENT WHEN YOU REALIZED THAT ACTING WAS MORE THAN A PASSION—THAT IT WAS THE PATH YOU WANTED TO DEDICATE YOUR LIFE TO?
There were two moments that made me realize acting is more than just a passion.
One was after making the first film of my life.
That acting experiece made me realize I could use my own life experience to interpret a character.
The other was when I discovered that an actor’s performance can have an impact.
Beyond the work itself, for instance, through charity work or environmental protection, they may be willing to contribute more of their energy and ability to help you accomplish something together.
I think that is something like an actor’s sense of mission. After realizing these two things, I became absolutely determined to continue doing the work I do now.

WHAT DOES YOUR HOME IN SHANGHAI MEAN TO YOU?
What does my home in Shanghai mean to me? Freedom. Ha ha ha!
Because, from then until now, it is the first home I have been able to design myself.
I had always lived with my mother. So many things around the house were quite hard work for her.
This space is where I, for the first time, could imagine things for myself and design it in the way I wanted.
I made it into a place that feels deeply healing to me.

IS THERE A PARTICULAR ROOM OR SPACE WHERE YOU FEEL MOST LIKE YOURSELF?
I have a special space at home, I think it must be the one you just saw: a Molteni&C open storage cabinet. I feel it is very much like me. It gives an outward impression of being rational, but in fact it is highly flexible and free.
It also has a section in the middle where I keep my favorite red wines. It is very romantic, very artistic, and a place where I can come up with lots of ideas.
It is like the inner self I have when I’m acting – So, for me, that cabinet is also very logical.
It has lots of storage space and is very pratical, but the things it holds are actually very romantic.
It remains fresh over time.
It is very elegant brand. At first glance, it struck me as a very beautiful piece of furniture. But it is also practical.
I also think its materials and craftsmanship are excellent.
I can use it for a long time.
WHAT DOES AN IDEAL DAY AT HOME LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?
An ideal day at home for me is pretty simple. After I brought the Molteni&C Continuum chair home, I found myself spending a lot of time in it—just sitting back, reading a book, and enjoying a quiet moment.
