A PRIVATE VILLA IN NINGBO

A PRIVATE VILLA IN NINGBO
A PRIVATE VILLA IN NINGBO

Situated in the heart of Ningbo, China, this private villa, designed by Lin Weiping of LWPD, reflects a masterful balance of tradition and innovation. Known for drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese poetry and philosophy, LWPD creates human-centered spaces that blend Eastern spirit with a contemporary, global sensibility. The villa was furnished in part by Molteni&C, in collaboration with RenUno.

Spanning approximately 1,000 square meters across four levels — from the basement to the third floor — the villa is designed to accommodate three generations of family living. The architecture is defined by openness and abundant natural light, with skylights on all four sides that bathe the interiors in sunlight throughout the day. Surrounded by gardens, the home fosters a continuous dialogue with nature, creating a calm and uplifting atmosphere.

Molteni&C contributed to this project with a curated selection of loose furniture, brought into the design through collaboration with RenUno as the dealer and project partner. The brand’s refined materials and warm tones complement the villa’s predominantly white color palette, adding a sense of depth and tranquility to the space.

The interior design is inspired by traditional Chinese gardens, with flowing, layered pathways that guide movement and introduce a meditative rhythm to the home. Each bedroom, study, and walk-in closet opens onto a private courtyard or balcony, offering dynamic views of the surrounding greenery. These features blur the boundary between inside and out, bringing a sense of serenity and retreat to urban life.

Curved ceilings throughout the bedrooms echo the organic lines of Molteni&C furnishings, seamlessly integrating architectural and interior elements. The concept of “spatial vitality” infuses the villa, creating an environment in which every detail, visible or hidden, has been carefully considered.

GREGOR
GREGOR

Vincent Van Duysen’s Gregor modular sofa system embodies a refined approach to contemporary living. Designed for spaces devoted to conversation, reading, and entertainment, Gregor offers a modular architecture that balances low, inviting proportions with precise detailing. The design is an ode to lightness, a harmonious, contemporary language created by the contrast of soft, comfortable and generous cushions and the strong, precise and linear metal basement.

D.153.1
D.153.1

An emblem of Italian design heritage, the D.153.1 armchair carries the unmistakable touch of Gio Ponti. Originally created in 1953 for his private residence on Via Dezza in Milan and reintroduced by Molteni&C from Ponti’s own archival drawings, the piece captures the designer’s modernist spirit, inviting a dialogue between history and contemporary living.

D.154.2
D.154.2

Gio Ponti’s D.154.2 armchair captures the architect’s luminous spirit and masterful approach to form with its embracing, sinuous silhouette. The iconic armchair was born from a deeply personal project, the Villa Planchart in Caracas (1953-1957) - the private residence of art collectors Anala and Armando Planchart, which they commissioned Gio Ponti to design from top to bottom as both the architect and the interior designer.

TUSCANY
TUSCANY

The Tuscany chaise longue by Naoto Fukasawa interprets the iconic vistas of the Italian landscape through the lens of the designer's own aesthetic, merging stylistic cues in a way that captures the finest of both worlds — the Italian and the Japanese.

KENSINGTON
KENSINGTON

With Kensington, Rodolfo Dordoni reinterprets the tradition of the classic Bergère through the lens of contemporary Italian design. Conceived for relaxation or conversation, the design combines sculptural lines with refined comfort. Whether in its high or low version, Kensington embodies a balance of elegance and intimacy, designed to enrich both private homes and hospitality spaces.

WOODY
WOODY

Francesco Meda made his debut for Molteni&C with the Woody chair, a design that balances grace with simplicity. Its name evokes the warmth of its primary material, while its shape invites gatherings around a beautifully set table where conversation flows effortlessly.

45°/TAVOLINO

45°/Tavolino by Ron Gilad highlights the designer's fascination with geometry and the subtle poetry of simple forms. Each table embodies an “open box” concept, where contours define space without overwhelming it, creating a sense of lightness and transparency. 45°/Tavolino harmonizes with a variety of interiors, as the collection blends sculptural presence with practical versatility.
