An emblem of Italian design heritage, the D.153.1 armchair carries the unmistakable touch of Gio Ponti. Originally created in 1953 for his private residence on Via Dezza in Milan and reintroduced by Molteni&C from Ponti’s own archival drawings, the piece captures the designer’s modernist spirit, inviting a dialogue between history and contemporary living. 

This armchair combines the rigour of the profiles with exceptional comfort for resting. lt stands out for its faceted shape and elongated line, conveying a desire to depart from the bourgeois way of Iife.

Its sculptural brass frame offers both strength and lightness, creating a silhouette that is refined yet approachable. This durable metal structure provides the foundation for a seat and backrest creating clean geometric lines and graceful proportions still relevant in today’s interiors.
